How to install Data Deposit Box Backup’s Continuous Client for Windows

In this article, we will show you how to download and install the Continuous Client for Windows, Data Deposit Box’s backup software to backup your computer’s files. Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the My Data Portal using your Data Deposit Box Backup credentials.

  2. Click on Download Software on the left side menu.

  3. Click Download Now under the Window section.
  4. Once the download is complete, run the setup.exe file.
  5. Follow the steps in the installer and complete the installation.
  6. Once the installation is complete you will have the option to selection Advanced  or Finish

NOTE: Enter your DDB account’s username and password if prompted.
 



Note: if you want to run the backup when not logged into your windows account, click the Advanced button, and in the window that pops up, check Run as a service and you also have an option to install the open file driver if you check Backup Open Files if you wish to back up files that are in use. Click OK when done making your choices.

Disclaimer: Backup Open Files Open File Driver increases the likelihood of backing up open files but does not guarantee backing up open files so make sure to monitor these files.

  1. Click Finish to complete the setup.

    Note: If you check Run as a service, you will be asked for your Windows username and password after it authenticates the Data Deposit Box Backup account. Please ensure the Windows user you use has the right to run as a service.
  1. Once your system has been authenticated, you will be logged into the My Data Portal, where you can now configure your backups.
